Whose Battle is it?

I have been processing my internal thoughts and battles. I really NEED to stop trying to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. I claim to not carry this weight but in fact, I do carry it.  I am human. The only way for me to not carry it, is for me to be spending a lot more time in prayer than I currently am, otherwise, how could I ever hope to keep my eyes open and take interest with what is happening all over the world? I would also have to close my eyes and stop looking. I am an observer, a see-er, an acknowledger, but then ‘knowing’ is carrying to a great extent. I see people in pain, in turmoil, hurt, broken, carrying shame. I see death, illness, murder, justification of heinous acts. I see addictions and allergic reactions to life’s events, trauma, turmoil, and no-win…

Where do you get your power from?

This afternoon my husband and I, and a friend of ours watched an episode of AD: Kingdom and Empire, made by Roma Downey. (It follows on from “Son of God” which I haven’t seen). It was the second episode after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. The disciples were fearful, they were shocked, they didn’t quite know what to do. He had indeed risen. Now what!? They were hiding, the were being sought after and weren’t sure what to do. Then Jesus appeared to them, he told them to gather together and wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit. Watching this depiction was such a clear revelation to me. These disciples were chosen by God, God knew they could do it… But they were men like any of us today. At first they are afraid, they don’t know what to do, they are shocked. Who will you turn to?

A friend of mine shared a poster on her Facebook wall… the words were along the lines of this:  “We don’t need to get people to church we need to get them to Jesus” A friend of hers commented on  this and said: “People who are afraid of hell turn to religion.  People who have been to hell turn to spirituality.” This comment really didn’t makes any sense to me and its certainly not true for me either.  This is the way  I see it….  A lot of churches are about religion. If we are religious it wont get us anywhere, we can’t possible keep all the rules, nor for even one day…. But Jesus, Jesus on the other hand is all about relationship.  Being scared of hell had nothing to do with it for me…. I had always believed in God… and I found His reality in relationship with Him…

Its complicated…

Its complicated…  Just thinking about the complications in our lives… Sometimes it feels as if there are a million loose ends in our life… (yes I know it’s a slight exaggeration). Sometimes it feels like things are unravelling or that we know in time they will unravel. What will happen when…? What will I do if…? What about…? We don’t know what to do now, we don’t know what we will do when and if things unravel like we imagine. Sometimes they never end up unravelling…. The one thing that I hold onto when I feel like this is my faith. My belief in God’s best plan for my life. I have seen him come through in every situation I have faced… No I don’t know why, I don’t know how, I don’t understand it all, I don’t understand a lot of it but I will trust in him, and…

Sooner or later…

~Sooner or Later~ It would be so much better if you knew sooner rather than later when there is a problem. Sometimes we know there is something going on but fear sets in. You may not feel you have the courage at that time to ask what is going on… What I have learnt is this…don’t wait to ask!
