Everything that can be shaken will be shaken
“His voice shook the earth [at Mount Sinai] then, but now He has given a promise, saying, “YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE [starry] HEAVEN.”
~HEBREWS 12:26-27~
Commentary: Now this [expression], “Yet once more,” indicates the removal and final transformation of all those things which can be shaken–that is, of that which has been created–so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.”
I’m pretty certain there is a shaking going on. I feel it in my life and I see it the lives of others around me. It’s not pleasant but, in a lot of ways, it is good.
The outcomes of this shaking mean more of Him and less of me.
Everything that can be shaken will be shaken. Have you heard that saying before? It perfectly describes the world in its current state. It’s like we are walking in an earthquake, and yet for us believers, it’s almost as if things are actually falling out of the way, and falling into place.
We are being sifted and, if we allow God to do his work in our lives, we will be refined and come forth as gold. I was wondering why He couldn’t take us now, and clean and refine us on the way, but He who began a good work in us will bring it into completion on the day of Jesus Christ, the day of His return.
Be holy, even as I am Holy. That’s what his word says.
If we are living our lives faithfully before God then the work of sanctification is being carried out in our life every day, but I’m pretty sure that this shaking is another level altogether.
Things shake us on the inside and also on the outside. And even though we may be experiencing a shaking, we need not be shaken, if we are standing on the Rock, our sure foundation.
I have always had a beautiful image in my mind that when we fall on the Rock, then that’s as far as we can fall, falling on the Rock is the most secure place we can find ourselves.
As every day goes by, I’m ‘falling on the Rock more and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt he is carrying me through.
And while the shaking is happening, hold on for dear life. Hold onto Him. Allow the shaking to cleanse your heart and soul, and share with your friends and family that The Bible says all these things will happen and use it as a way to share the gospel with them.
