The Day….

“Do this, knowing that this is a critical time.  It is already the hour for you to awaken from your sleep [of spiritual complacency];  for our salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed [in Christ].  The night [this present evil age] is almost gone and the day [of Christ’s return] is almost here.  So let us fling away the works of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light.” ‭‭~Romans 13:11-12‬~ Wow, it can’t get any clearer than that can it? This verse carries my passionate plea perfectly, to one and all! Hear the cry, heed the call, look into your heart and spirit and awaken from your slumber.  How much more critical can it get before we wake up and realize what day and hour it is?  For many many many years I was asleep. I really had no idea of the significance of…

The Fragrance of Christ…

The Fragrance of Christ…  “For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which ascends] to God,  [discernible both] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;  to the latter one an aroma from death to death [a fatal, offensive odor],  but to the other an aroma from life to life [a vital fragrance, living and fresh].  And who is adequate and sufficiently qualified for these things? For we are not like many, [acting like merchants] peddling God’s word [shortchanging and adulterating God’s message];  but from pure [uncompromised] motives, as [commissioned and sent] from God, we speak [His message] in Christ in the sight of God.” ‭‭~2 CORINTHIANS‬ ‭2:15-17‬~ Another beautiful passage. When I read these words I like to break up the paragraphs, so as to help make clearer the message of the passage.  When you read this slowly it’s abundantly clear what is being said,…

A clean heart…

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.” ‭‭~PSALM‬ ‭51:10‬~ Nothing I do or say really counts if I haven’t had a clean heart while doing it.If not for the light of his grace I would fall quite short. I need to take a look at myself and see for myself the “high places” that have been building up around me. The ‘high places’ are where God should dwell, not anyone or anything else, but we end up constructing our own high places and in many instances, we take up residence there ourselves. “For the high and exalted One He who inhabits eternity, Whose name is Holy says this, “I dwell on the high and holy place, But also with the contrite and humble in spirit In order to revive the spirit of the humble And to revive the heart of…

The Helper…

The powerful work of the Holy Spirit…  “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you;  but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. And He, when He comes, will convict the world about [the guilt of] sin [and the need for a Savior], and about righteousness, and about judgment: about sin [and the true nature of it], because they do not believe in Me [and My message]; about righteousness [personal integrity and godly character], because I am going to My Father and you will no longer see Me;  about judgment [the certainty of it], because the ruler of this world (Satan) has been judged and condemned.  “I have many more things to…

I count it but loss, for the sake of the cross…

“But whatever former things were gains to me  [as I thought then],  these things  [once regarded as advancements in merit] I have come to consider as loss  [absolutely worthless] for the sake of Christ [and the purpose which He has given my life].” ‭‭~PHILIPPIANS‬ ‭3:7‬~ In the last 3 years out of the 33 or so years, I have been a conscious Christian I have only just started to grasp the meaning of this verse.  It was around 3 years ago that I awoke to the most important realization of my life.  The message of the gospel is life-saving and all people need saving. The mission truly became real to me.  Since that time as the urgency of the gospel message took hold, everything in my life began to change, suddenly the things that used to count seemed so unimportant, so vain, so temporal, so plastic The words of Ecclesiastes…

There is no distinction…

There is no distinction…  “This righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [Jew or Gentile] who believe [and trust in Him and acknowledge Him as God’s Son]. There is no distinction,” ‭‭~Romans 3:22‬~ God does not play favourites. His gift is to one and to all. “For there is no distinction between Jew and Gentile; for the same Lord is Lord over all [of us], and [He is] abounding in riches (blessings) for all who call on Him [in faith and prayer].” ‭‭~Romans 10:12‬~ What God says he means. He’s not like the majority of us for whom this statement is not true. Most of us know that this is hard to hold true to most of the time, let alone all of the time, but he only makes one qualifier and that is that we need the righteousness of God which comes through faith…
